We are a family of 5 for just a few more days! We decided to go on a family vacation before our baby comes and before Christopher starts Kindergarten. Chris' parents were kind enough to share their reservation for South Carlsbad beach since they moved (Boooo) and were unable to use it. Between hot dogs, tinfoil dinners, pancakes and bacon, S'mores, sleeping in a tent (although I was spoiled and had a blowup bed), exploring, visiting around the fire with Ryan and Nancy, and getting absolutely filthy, our camping experience felt complete.
Here is the view from our campsite. It was my first time beach camping and I loved hearing the waves all day and night!
We spent all day (seriously, 9-5) at the beach and it was awesome.
Here Christopher was helping Uncle Ryan wax the surfboard before they took it out.
It took quite a while for the kids to warm up to the water. At first we had to force them to get in the water and try things, but by the end of the day the boys were begging for more rides and to play in the waves.
Brooklyn was content to lay on her towel or just play in the sand for hours.
But we did make her try boogie boarding
Matthew wasn't crazy about it but he was a pretty good sport.
Unfortunately, I never got a great video that showed a full ride. This shows just a part of one of many.
And of course a few of us enjoyed a nap on the beach
The kids loved having cute cousin Raglan to play with!
After a couple of nights there, we changed scenery and went to a resort in Palm Springs where we had found a pretty good deal. The kids had fun in the kid playroom and of course the pool.
This was Matthew's favorite thing to do in the pool- funny kid!
It was so fun to get away and enjoy time with Chris and these 3 sweet kids while we all enjoyed summer sun and fun!
And here are a few of my favorite random pictures of the kiddos:
This sweet boy turned 2 on Wednesday. He is a total bundle of energy and is such a joy!
I'm getting induced on Aug 29th, so next post will most likely be about our sweet new babe. We're excited to meet our little guy and hope everything goes smoothly!

Your kids are adorable. And Matthew is hilarious! Those pictures of Christopher standing up on the surf board are crazy! He's so old! And you are such a good sport to go camping so far along. I'm sure your kids will have fun memories of that fun vacation before sweet baby Brian!
